Melbourne Calling..

Rakesh Uncle & Ranjana Aunty have been inviting us to Melbourne and now we have an ultimatum as I have run out of excuses so we will be off to Melbourne for a couple of days. We plan to drive down so we can explore Australia and enjoy the countryside as we drive. Watch out for pictures of the trip.
Rakesh Uncle & Ranjana Aunty have been very encouraging and wonderful to me during the last couple of years and I hold them in very high esteem.
As I move on to start a new chapter in my life I am privileged to have people like them who have made me value life and value myself thru their down to earth humble approach, advice and support.

Dinner with Anand & Preeti

Today we were all invited to dinner at Anand & Preeti's place. The food was awesome.. had some nice beez neez beer. The dessert was kheer which had a lovely saffron flavour. Nothing like a nice cognac after the meal.

My New Car!

As I had left Nerds On Site I had to sell my Red Beetle & so I decided to treat myself to a brand new Mercedes and decided to surprise Mum & Dad so I will be picking them up from the airport in this car tomorrow. Right now they are on the plane and so will not get to see this till I pick them up from the airport.. Its a lovely limited edition P-37, based on the C200 Kompressor  with Sports package, Avante Garde, Vision Package ie Sun Roof & Command Control ie. GPS, Voice activated etc. It's a pleasure to drive and feels great. (Not as good as Sanjay's cars but still great for me)  Enjoy the pics...

Greetings on your Wedding Anniversary!

Here's wishing Mum & Dad a very happy wedding anniversary... Its gonna be an absolute pleasure to have them with me. I have a big surprise waiting for them as I had a dream as a child which will be fulfilled tomorrow.
It's dreams like this that make life purposeful and enjoyable. I've loved going to the gym with dad and then hanging out in the spa. Enjoyed going out for a picnic with Mum & Dad and having fun in the countryside or the beach or the hills.
Watch out Mum & Dad as the surprise will unravel tomorrow as we meet!
Lotsa Love....
Just Rajiv

November 2009..

Probably one of the best month's in my life as I learnt where I stand vis-a-vis my near & dear ones.. I've taken some tough decisions which have put me in a much better position today.
Work has been good with honesty & dedication paying dividends.
My dear friend Vernon Dalton had a stroke and has his left side paralysed and is still recovering in the Stroke Care Unit at Westmead Hospital. I shall pray for his well being and speedy recovery as Vernon is a wonderful man.
I have found some really nice friends who have added value to life in general.. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend as I tidy up the garage and the house...
Watch out for some great surprises in December..

A wonderful email from a school-time junior, Romal, who's been in touch with me recently... She's really sweet!

Subject: Hi..........

Hi Head Boy,

Hope u r doing gr8 !! Sending u a para which i love reading evry time i need a little push..I firmly believe that if I share good things with like minded friends it contributes to my personal happiness..so the motive is purely selfish ;)

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

Btw why the jewels from ur end hve stopped..anyways there r few ppl who have the ability to share good stuff ..

TC,
Smile Always,
Jr..

In Search Of Excellence...

One of the books I made my presentation on to Mr JRD Tata way back in 1991 was "In Search Of Excellence" by Thomas Peters & Waterman.
As I work on my new project I will work on the basis of some of his themes that apply...

Peters and Waterman found eight common themes which they argued were responsible for the success of the chosen corporations. The book devotes one chapter to each theme.
  1. A bias for action, active decision making - 'getting on with it'.
  2. Close to the customer - learning from the people served by the business.
  3. Autonomy and entrepreneurship - fostering innovation and nurturing 'champions'.
  4. Productivity through people- treating rank and file employees as a source of quality.
  5. Hands-on, value-driven - management philosophy that guides everyday practice - management showing its commitment.
  6. Stick to the knitting - stay with the business that you know.
  7. Simple form, lean staff - some of the best companies have minimal HQ staff.
  8. Simultaneous loose-tight properties - autonomy in shop-floor activities plus centralized values.

Awwww aren't we cool???

TGIF... Thank God It's Friday!

I have had a very hectic 10 days as life has meandered it's way posing new challenges for me professionally & personally. I do have the strength, courage & enterprise to work my way and overcome all of them.
It's been a week of work meetings, compliances, negotiations & being judged ...
I have been a firm believer in The Gita and the fact that Man is the architect of his own destiny and though I've never been a very religious person I do believe I have done my best with good intentions & will continue to do so...
As I start my new project as an IT Consultant, I look forward to the challenges that lay ahead. Surprising but true that I enjoy challenges and will make a success out of it...

Thank God its Friday as I look forward to a relaxing weekend... though I have lots to do including ironing a mountain of clothes!

It is after nearly 35 years we visited Paris and of course Belgium. It will be nice comparing the then photographs with the ones taken now. Of course the technology today is far more advanced
